What's the difference between 'total days' and 'years/months/days'?

Total days gives a single number (e.g. 365). Years/months/days breaks it down the way humans express it (1 year 0 months 0 days). The latter is useful for contracts and ages.

Does it support the Hijri calendar?

How do I compute 'what date is N days from now'?

Why are business days fewer than total days?

Because we skip Friday + Saturday (Saudi weekend). With 'exclude public holidays' on, the count drops further by removing Eids, Founding Day, and National Day.

How does it work?

The time-between-dates calculator subtracts one date from another and returns the result in multiple shapes: years/months/days (age-style), total days (for contracts), weeks, hours, and business days (excluding Friday/Saturday + public holidays). Useful for contract management, leave administration, and payment terms.

How the calculation works

Base difference = milliseconds between the two dates ÷ milliseconds in a day. The years/months breakdown uses a borrowing algorithm: when the end day is smaller than the start day, the value is borrowed from the previous month. Business days are counted day-by-day, skipping Friday/Saturday and listed holidays.

Worked example

Difference between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2026:

Total days: 364 days
As years/months/days: 0 years, 11 months, 30 days
Weeks: 52 weeks
Business days (Sun-Thu): 260 days
Business days excluding Saudi public holidays: ~245 days

The official weekend in Saudi Arabia is Friday and Saturday (changed from Thursday/Friday in 2013). The tool excludes these two days when 'exclude weekends' is on.
