How does it work?

A QR Code (Quick Response) is a 2D barcode that stores text or URL data inside a grid of black-and-white squares. Modern phone cameras read it instantly and open the encoded payload (link, phone, payment app). One code holds up to 7,089 digits or 4,296 alphanumeric characters.

  • WiFi: a guest joins the network by tapping the code — no password to type.

Error correction

QR codes embed self-correcting data (Reed-Solomon). The tool uses correction level M (15%), so the code stays scannable even if 15% of its surface is scratched or covered. For outdoor labels, print at ≥ 3 cm to be safe.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I print and scan it?

Yes. Download as SVG for ideal print quality at any size, or PNG at high resolution. Make sure to keep a white border around the code (the 'quiet zone') of at least 4 modules.

Does the WiFi QR work on iPhone and Android?

iOS 11+ reads it directly from the camera. Android 10+ reads it from the default camera app. Older devices need a dedicated QR reader app.

Why doesn't my code work after printing?

Common causes: the print is too small (≥ 2 cm for short codes, ≥ 4 cm for longer ones), printed on coloured paper (white + black is optimal), or the white quiet zone around the code is broken.

Can I customise the colours?

Yes — pick any background and dot colour. Keep contrast high (dark on light); low-contrast codes can fail on cheaper scanners.

Does the tool save my data?

No. Generation happens locally in your browser — nothing is sent to a Snad server. You can disconnect from the internet during use to verify.

Static vs. dynamic QR — which is this?

Snad's tool produces a static QR (data lives inside the code itself). To change the content later you'd need a paid dynamic QR service that uses an intermediary URL. Static is more private and secure (no scan tracking).
