Time Between Two Dates Calculator

The time-between-dates calculator subtracts one date from another and returns the result in multiple shapes: years/months/days (age-style), total days (for contracts), weeks, hours, and business days (excluding Friday/Saturday + public holidays). Useful for contract management, leave administration, and payment terms.

How the calculation works

Base difference = milliseconds between the two dates ÷ milliseconds in a day. The years/months breakdown uses a borrowing algorithm: when the end day is smaller than the start day, the value is borrowed from the previous month. Business days are counted day-by-day, skipping Friday/Saturday and listed holidays.

Worked example

Difference between 1 January 2026 and 31 December 2026:

1. Total days: 364 days
2. As years/months/days: 0 years, 11 months, 30 days
3. Weeks: 52 weeks
4. Business days (Sun-Thu): 260 days
5. Business days excluding Saudi public holidays: ~245 days

Weekend in Saudi Arabia

The official weekend in Saudi Arabia is Friday and Saturday (changed from Thursday/Friday in 2013). The tool excludes these two days when 'exclude weekends' is on.

• Founding Day: 22 February (fixed Gregorian).
• Eid al-Fitr: 4-day public-sector holiday (variable, lunar).
• Eid al-Adha: 4-day public-sector holiday (variable, lunar).
• National Day: 23 September (fixed Gregorian).
