How does it work?
Every VAT-registered business in Saudi Arabia has a 15-digit Tax Identification Number (TIN). A valid TIN on every tax invoice is mandatory for the invoice to be accepted by the Zakat, Tax & Customs Authority.
Structural rules
- Exactly 15 digits, numbers only.
- Starts with the digit 3 (reserved for VAT).
- Ends with the digit 3 (terminal check digit).
- Contains no spaces, dashes, or other symbols.
Structural-only validation
This tool only validates the format of the VAT number — it doesn't call the Zakat Authority's registry. To verify active registration, use the official ZATCA portal.
When do you need this?
Before issuing a tax invoice to a customer, when receiving an invoice from a new supplier, and when on-boarding supplier/customer master data into accounting software. Catching typos here prevents rejected invoices later.
