# How to view a customer statement in Snad

To view a customer statement in Snad ERP, open **Reports** and press **Customer statement** in the **Sales** card. Pick the customer, and the **Balance aging** and the table of entries for the current year appear. Change the period if you need to, then print the statement, export it to Excel or send it to the customer.

## Before you start

- A customer with [invoices](https://www.snad.io/en/guide/create-sales-invoice) or [receipt vouchers](https://www.snad.io/en/guide/create-receipt-voucher) in Snad ([add a customer](https://www.snad.io/en/guide/create-customer)).
- Permission to view the accounting reports for your user, because the statement reads account balances ([roles and permissions](https://www.snad.io/en/guide/roles-permissions)).

## Steps

1. **Open the report.** In the sidebar, choose **Reports**, then press **Customer statement** inside the **Sales** card.

## Advanced details

### Who can see this report

The statement reads account balances, so it is shown to the account admin and to users allowed to view the accounting reports. Others see a no-permission message.

Give a user the permission in [roles and permissions](https://www.snad.io/en/guide/roles-permissions).

### What the balance aging card shows

The **Balance aging** card also shows the customer's [payment terms](https://www.snad.io/en/guide/create-customer#adv-terms),**Oldest open since**, and **Customer credit** when the customer has a credit in their favour.

For all your customers on one page, use the [customers aging](https://www.snad.io/en/guide/customers-aging) report.

### How to read the table

The table starts with the period's **Opening balance**, then the entries with **Debit**, **Credit** and **Balance** columns, then the **Period totals**, then the **Closing balance**.

A positive balance is owed by the customer; a negative one is a credit in their favour. It follows invoices, their returns ([sales return](https://www.snad.io/en/guide/create-sales-refund)) and receipt vouchers ([receipt voucher](https://www.snad.io/en/guide/create-receipt-voucher)).

If the period is long, Snad shows only the first entries with a notice, so narrow the dates to see the rest.

For the statement of any other account in your chart, see [view an account statement](https://www.snad.io/en/guide/account-statement); for the period's invoices, see [sales reports](https://www.snad.io/en/guide/sales-reports).

### Sending the statement to the customer

**Send statement** opens a window with the **Statement link**. Copy it with **Copy link**, or send it by **WhatsApp** or **Email**.

The link shows the statement to anyone who has it. **Create a new link** stops every link sent before it.

### The statement from the customer page

The same statement is in the **Statement** tab on the customer's page ([add a customer](https://www.snad.io/en/guide/create-customer)), if you can view the accounting reports.

## Common questions

### How do I print a customer statement in Snad?

Open **Reports**, then **Customer statement**, pick the customer and the period, then press **Print**.

### Can I export the statement to Excel?

Yes. After picking the customer and the period, press **Export to Excel** at the top of the statement card.

### What does a negative balance on the statement mean?

A positive balance is owed by the customer; a negative one is a credit in their favour, for example when they paid more than their invoices.

### Why can't I see the customer statement report?

Because it reads account balances, it needs permission to view the accounting reports. Ask the account admin for it.
